Putting your people and organization into focus

Training is the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and competencies as a result of the teaching of vocational or practical skills and knowledge that relate to specific useful competencies. Training has specific goals of improving one’s capability, capacity, productivity and performance. And that is all well and good. Acquiring knowledge without a plan to implement and apply it in a practical way does not take you very far.

“Why are we training?” The answer cannot simply be because we like to train, it is the right thing to do or we value our people. We have to identify an outcome that we are trying to achieve. We want compliance with the standards we have set for our organization.

So the difference to any organization who says they want to “train their people” is to determine

  • What knowledge, skills, and behaviors need to be learned?
  • Why is that important?
  • What are the results that is desired?
  • How will it be implemented so that the information is retained and used?
  • How will it impact other people and organizations?
  • What are the resources necessary to be applied to get the results desired?

If we are to go from where we are today . . . . . to where we want to be tomorrow, we will need to gather the information, data and knowledge to be able to act effectively when the time comes. We have to know what it all looks like when we are done. The alternative is spending money for no reason at all.

To sort through these training and development challenges and to present to you the way that this needs to be done is the role of the TalentValue advisor. Reach out to us today and let’s talk about how we can help you.
